Default Am I overworrying?

an upper left molar has no bone left, is part of a bridge & the oral surgeon recommends extraction which I hope will eliminate the pain. however in order to extract it the metal part of the bridge must be removed. i am dreading the entire process but the most worrisome is having the metal covering of the tooth drilled off.
Is drilling through metal easier than it seems? Has anyone been through this? I would be grateful for any thoughts.
