Default ENT Visit

Sorry for the delay in responding. One thing led to another which led to...
The ENT checked things out and saw nothing that was a cause for concern. He saw some inflammation (allergic type), which may account for some of that nasty taste. Am still getting it
I guess this is something I will just have to wait out to see if it goes away on its own or develops something less subtle (okay, something that can actually be seen, not just tasted)..

Hi TooTired,

Well, I think your situation may resolve to a point, like you say, and then perhaps resurface with more difinitive symptoms later on. It may also not be related to the surgical site at all, but some other tooth acting up. This doesn't mean there is a serious problem, it just means that there is definitely an irritant of some sort that is causing you this discomfort and nasty taste that will most likely not just go away on it's own.

By any chance do you have any other questionable teeth? Your salty, sulfuric, metalic taste symptoms mimic those of patients I have seen who have either decayed teeth, infected root canaled teeth and/or crowns or fillings that are ill fitting where bacteria is getting in underneath them.

It could be that you have a couple of different things going on and you and your dentist are focusing on this one area since it was recently surgerized.

Dental problems like this are generally complex, but eventually get figured out.
Please keep us posted on how you are doing!

Default pain and problems after dental surgery

Hi there, just had a Dental Implant today and 3 out of 4 stitches around the immidiate site have fallen out already, they are dissolvables. How will this effect the ‘look’ of my gums? I have done everything after surgery as suggested, all soft foods, medications and such. I am not in pain or anything. Just wondering if this is super important as my surgeon is 2 hours away. Thank-you

Hi denver smith,

Stitches are put in to hold the tissue closed to help prevent debris from getting into the surgical wound and in some instances to help contour the shape of the gum tissue. It is best to call the oral surgeon and tell him that the sutures came out. Since he is so far away from you, it may be helpful if you can take a photo of the area and email it to him so he can see what it looks like, as that may or may not save you a trip.

Good luck.
