Hi kelly,

Very rare to have two wisdom teeth on the same side.... but anything is possible! I think you are right in that you may have some "sketchy" details. I have no doubt that removing any infected teeth will most definitely lift her spirits!!

Please do ask her to read the links I had provided about root canals. I can assure you (and she) that root canaling an infected tooth will not cure the infection in the tooth..... it may temporarily subside the symptoms, but if at best, it would only be temporary.

Please do keep us posted!!

So, to clarify, it is actually ME that may not be getting all the facts in this situation. I probably assumed much of what you're responding to in terms of the tooth and its condition and associated infection, (past or present).

I can tell you that part of the problem she endured was from a wisdom teeth issue as well. In fact, just yesterday a dentist removed what was thought to be a wisdom tooth that was coming in at a 45 degree angle and it was causing pressure and contact against the questionable tooth, (again I'm sketchy on details here). The wisdom "tooth" turned out to be TWO teeth coming in at the same time. (and again, not exact details for you here). So, having those removed has totally lifted her spirits and seems to have helped considerably.

I will, however, ask her to look at the links you listed in your post here, and make sure she's clear about the magnitude of the infection she's endured and it's potential hazards. ONCE this is ALL past us, I look forward to telling you exactly what has occurred and what it all entailed, with a little more detail!

Thanks again, and I'll keep you posted.

Hi Bryanna,

I wanted to give you a long awaited update on my sis. Everything has turned out just fine. She is in good health, had ONE wisdom tooth removed, had a root canal on the troubled tooth and now has it crowned as well.

She couldn't be better - although thousands of dollars later, from emergency room treatment to dental surgery and procedures!

Anyway, money is just money. People you can't replace. So, we're all glad she's fine, and once again, thanks for all your advice during that volatile time!

My best,

- kelly

Hi Kelly,

Glad to hear your sister is doing ok! She had certainly been through some scary times!

I still urge her to have that root canaled tooth monitored with xrays at least once a year so she can catch the changes as they occur and not end up with another nearly grave situation like she just had.

Thanks for keeping us posted...... all the best!
