Default I'm just sad

I guess I was born sad.

I didn't cry much as a baby, they say. I didn't complain or anything. I just laid there. I took whatever people felt like giving me. I guess I figured back then that's the way life is.

It still is.

I guess I don't give anyone much reason it should be anything else, so I'm still sad. No reason to be, I just am. Is anyone else like me?

Default hello justsad

Hello and welcome to neuro talk. There are compassionate people here that will be glad to listen to you any time you need to talk. That includes me. I know about being sad at differnet points in my life. Sometimes it creeps up, and sometimes it is devestating. If there is anything I can say or do to help I would. Nobody wants to be sad all the time. Joy in life, can still be had. Do you have someone in your life that can help support you while you feel so sad? People need people. That is why this site was made I think. You are free to post anything to us at all. There will be someone who will respond to you. You are not along. ginnie

Heart Hi Justsad....

I sure wish I could bring a smile to your face...
Everyone deserves to be happy, yet depression has a way of stealing that away, leaving us with a cloud hanging overhead. Oh how I know and my heart truly goes out to you...
In your introductory post you mentioned that you are unable to take anti-depressants. Sometimes these meds can actually make things worse for some people. Have you tried any other forms of therapy, such as biofeedback? My psychiatrist has just recently introduced this to me and I'm giving it an honest try.
I know how difficult and frustrating it is to be sad, even when it seems we have everything in life we could ask for. I battled guilty feelings because of this because I knew there were so many others who had it worse off than me.
One of my biggest problems was that I would worry too much about what others thought of me. This was due more to anxiety than depression tho, but once I've got a grip on not really caring what others think, it has given me a better self-esteem. Our self esteem often feeds right off of depression rendering us feeling completely useless.
I hope this is not happening to you. But even so, please know that you DO have worth and when you look in the mirror, you should see a person with much beauty and purpose looking right back at you.

I'm always here to talk, and I know others will be along as well.
You aren't alone in this.

Your friend,
Rae

Bless your heart --- I'm sorry. I can totally understand how you feel. I felt like that at one time in my life. It's awful.

Have you tried therapy? That helped me immensely! Like Rrae, I carried a lot of guilt --- for what, I wasn't sure. Both my parents were alcoholics, so I thought *I* had something to do with that. Perhaps therapy would help you too! It sure can't hurt -- why not give it a try???

I wish you the very best. Please take care of yourself & God bless. Hugs, Lee

Don't hide away! It's annoying that anti-depressants aren't an option for you, but there are other ways. Biofeedback is excellent it really helped me. CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy is also of great use. If you're seeing a psychologist they can help you with this.

I don't want you to feel alone.. Stay as strong as you can. Whilst I don't believe it myself, everyone else tells me there is joy and hope in life. I hope dearly you can find those qualities in your life because it just isn't fair what we have to go through with this stuff

Thanks all who said hi & keep chin up. Its been real bad couple weeks lately with tests and infections and other trouble.

You re so nice I don't know what to say. I have antidepresnts but I don't think they help. I take for 20 years now. New doctor new pills. Some make me slepp but none make me not sad.

I think I was born a sad person. Its just me. I guess its okay. Thank you!

Heart (((((( justsad ))))))

Sweety, I just wanted to add my , " welcome", to the forums
and give you a great, big ! You're not alone, sweety!
I've suffered with Depression for years. A lot of the time, my
depression makes me just, not, want to do anything. I really don't
like going out, unless, it's necessary. Also, it causes me to sleep
* a lot*!! I could sleep, 24/7, if, I didn't have things, that, *need* to get
done! Have you seen a Dr. for your depression, sweety? If not, you
might want to speak to your Dr. about, possibly, getting on some
Meds., which, could make you feel better! You might not find the
correct Meds., right, away. Some, people, are very fortunate and they
find the correct medication for them, right, away. Sometimes, you'll
need to try a few different medications, before, you find the one,
that, helps you. I've been on Meds. for my depression and I can tell
you, you can feel tons, better, when you get on the correct meds.!
Again, I'd speak with your Dr., because, he/ she is the one who, knows
you, best.. Again, welcome to the forms and I *know*, you'll find many
people who will know just, how you feel because, they've dealt or are
dealing with the same type of issues as, you.

Phyllis
