Default Ketamine for Depression

I heard Ketamine is being tested as a promising drug for depression. Has anyone had the opportunity to participate in such a study? or perhaps had this drug prescribed? If so, what dose of ketamine was being used?

I understand that a lot of people use medication to treat their depression, maybe because they think it's the only thing that works. If you go to a doctor, I think most of them will automatically assume you need antidepressants. Many doctors aren't educated in ways to treat depression without drugs.

Exercise is huge is treating depression: it makes your body release serotonin & endorphins. Diet: food is your body's fuel, it needs the right foods to work correctly. Important: doing work that you enjoy & look forward to everyday, having social connections, hobbies you enjoy, some kind of spiritual connection, getting some fresh air & sunshine everyday, not focusing on your problems, etc.

Managing stress is hugely important. All of these things add up to a healthy brain and a happy life.

I know this is not helpful to your post Fireweeds. I just wanted to put it out there that often a person can accomplish what a pill can, without the side effects.

I had an amazing response to ketamine as an outpatient at UAMS Psychiatric Research Center in Little Rock, Ark. Their interventional psychiatry service has a new clinic for refractory depression and they do an incredible job. Contact Dr. Clothier or Dr. Stowe --- (501) 526-8100.
They work with an anesthesiologist who runs the infusion - 0.5 mg/kg is the dose.
Hope this is helpful.
