Default Combination of depression meds

I am a diabetic and also suffering from mild depression.

I am taking Escitalopram (Lexapro in US) 5 mg once daily for my depression. My pain doctor has put me on 25 mg of Nortriptyline once daily at night for my dental alveolar nerve pain . Is this combination dangerous ?

One is a TCA and the other SSRI. I am taking it for the past one month. I am just worried because i read these two cud cause Serotonin syndrome. However my doses are low.

Regards,
Amit.

Default Welcome

As a recipient of both
And had to be taken off the two south so many others as reactions were just to much to deal with and then the withdrawals
Your question very valid
Never be afraid to question your doctors
They may not like it
But your not there to be friends
I can tell you this about myself and lyrica
As I gradually got to my fourth pill I had relief of the pain I was experiencing
It was not classified yet
Told my neurologist of my experience
I explained there was a feeling of high
He shrugged it off
Well I was right
Later to be classified
Allergies to many antidepressants and pain meds
Trial and error was a B***h
And much damage come to this body
I too was on Nortriptyline

I am not suggesting what to do
I just suggest to do homework
And ask all the questions
Keep a diary of all that goes on

As a breast cancer recipient of tamoxifen
Extensive blood work taken by my oncologist
It was found that I have a genetic mutation called in abbreviation
MTHFR DNA mutation
Positive for two variants
In addition
Having two cervical fusions
It was thyrogloss duct cyst found behind affected surgery
It is ONLY AQUIRED having the mutation while I was in my mothers womb and it happens in the first trimester
also to learn that 50% of the population has it
Point
If one has such a mutation
Antidepressants are not going to do the job it is expected
Depression a horrible thing to have to deal with
As a cancer patient and put in tamoxifen to shut down my feel good hormone estrogen as my cancer is driven by estrogen
Then environmental depression situational depression
And mental depression menapause so many factors
Keep the dialogue going
Pay close attention to your body
And do not be afraid to ask questions
No matter what
Be well
Thank you for sharing
Me

Amitsa, you can use the "Interactions Checker" in this site to look for reported negative interactions between Escitalopram and Nortriptyline.

You can also use it to search for reported negative side-effects of each drug in isolation.
