Default it's my failures

Yesterday morning - grocery shopping in WalMart - I ended up hugging an old woman - a total stranger who simply needed help getting a big bag of sugar into her cart and was terribly upset about being unable to do it.
Big deal, huh?
It was a big deal for me. I've been thinking about that and bawling. I can't remember the last time anyone hugged me. It's been a miserable year --- a hellish year -- and I haven't been hugged once.

That has to be ME -- MY fault.

awww sweety it ain't you!!

((((((jingle))))))

it's people who are afraid to hug. to "invade" other peoples space. afraid of how touching somebody might be seen.

but it ain't you.

that lady you hugged and helped. she might not have been hugged all year either. you took a chance jingle. you followed your heart. you gave that lady a something nobody else did. a hug. a piece of jingles heart and compassion. you treated her like a person. didn't overlook her like many probably did.

boy am i proud of you jingle. i may not be right next to you hugging you, but know i am sending you a BIG one!!

Don't beat yourself up. I am a huggy type person with my patients even though its supposed ot be "unprofessional". There are times that the people seek you out for a hug because they need you. Its ok. Just take personal cues and if they seem to be ready to turn and run just smile and say hi.

Unhappy

((((((Jingle)))))),

It's NOT you; it's society.

Since I stopped working just over five years ago and only use my scooter to get around, I notice how rushed and how out-of-touch everyone is.

They're walking down the street with a beautiful little child and they're talking on the cell phone. They don't even notice that their kid just learned how to wave

They don't see the hawks flying overhead. They don't stop to watch the birds that for some reason always congregate by the hundreds in one small vine near the railroad station.

They don't see US. They don't see ANYONE.

I'm just like you. I haven't had a hug in AGES. The only time I would get a hug was once a month when I saw my son in prison. Now, they've moved him to a prison that I can't get to -- I won't see him for 18 months

If it weren't for my Casey-Cat (who loves to hug), I'd be really skin starved.

Hugs for the room:

Barb

PS: Oh, those aren't "failures" -- they're just "ways that haven't worked". We all have TONS of those.

Jingle I wish I could hug you in real life. My hugs here will have to do. You are such of a kind and sweet person. Trust me, if you are ever here in Texas, I'd hug you! Even if you just have to change planes at the airport, call me and I'll come hug you.

Thank you, Julie - thank you -- and - lol - be careful. Wednesday before last ... 12 (?) dreadful days ago, I did leave home for a fleeting 4 or 5 hours and gave some thought to flying to Dallas. Then I had pity on my poor Internet friend.

Thank all of you for your hugs. I don't have the words to say what they mean
