hi firemonkey

what kind of volunteer work does she have in mind? do you get a choice of something that might be easier for you? did she mention how much time to volunteer?

usually people or far more understanding about any "goofs" that a volunteer might do. it is nice to have the extra help and they know that what you are volunteering for isn't your "job".

there might be something that won't put you around a whole lot of people.

at my old church i ran the food bank. much of my time was doing it alone. organizing the pantry. pre-filling bags. watching for expiration dates and coordinating pick up times.

i didn't know you had a cat. we are still in the deciding stage of getting a pet. we want one...but grandmonkey isn't doing the best job of keeping little toys put up. it worries me that a pet would choke on a little lego. bad enough that i step on a hotwheel atleast once daily.

i'll keep my fingers crossed that they need help behind the scenes.

What a beautiful kitty. I've got three myself.

I too have that fear of failure and the fear of working with other people. I always have tried to get involved in the jobs that require filing so I don't have to deal with people.

Good luck and like Curious said, I'll keep my fingers crossed too in hope of a behind the scenes job.

i love funny cat stories. y'all gotta tell me some.

i had a cat named booger. she the only kitty from a litter of a pair of stry cats. they brought her up to my door and "dropped" her off.

she was a silly cat. she would run as fast as she could and slide across my kitchen floor.....right under the pantry door! and come peeking out. do it over and over. we would all just laugh and laugh. what a ham she was. i'll have to get out soem pics of her and scan them. she was black and white...with a black "booger" on her nose.

aaaahhh....my favourite cat talk!

I am a cat lover too and have sure had some special kitties over the years.

By far the most amazing tho is Snowball (yes, a pure white ) who is now a senior feline and was mom to Moonface, BatCat, Snowy, Igloo and Gravy.

She has survived them all, except Gravy, a delightful tabby, who, altho only 6 months younger than her ma, has retained her kittenish behaviour!

When Snowball was younger, she loved to hide under tables and chairs or behind doors and leap out at us and grab us round the ankles

35 years ago, when husband and I had been married 3 or 4 days I saw an ad in the little AF paper advertising FREE KITTENS so I called and asked if they had a yellow tom --- I wanted nothing except a yellow tom cat. The woman answering said they had anything because they had 3 litters to get rid ...er ... find good homes for.

I took off for her house and the minute I got out of my car a teeny little grey kitten flew down the driveway, attached herself to my leg and climbed up to my face. I gently disengaged her and put her back on the pavement.

Within seconds she was climbing back up my leg. I gently put the little gray rat back on the ground and took one more step toward the desirable yellow tom. She climbed again and I tried again. I never made it. By the time I got to the top of the driveway - to the garage where the three litters were waiting, I had badly snagged pants and shirt but I was in love.

That was Grace, our first cat. Oh, how we loved Grace.
