Keep in mind if you have testing to read our Gluten forum first for the interpretations of blood work. Some doctors don't interpret tests like the experts do. Also you have to be eating gluten (and not gluten free) for the tests to show anything.

Excellent point!! IF they are going to test me for Gluten, I would have to have some in my body!!!!!

So if they want to test me (lab work) I should eat bread (normal type diet for me historically) at least 2 or 3 days ahead of the lab work???

I think 2 weeks is more like it. You need the antibodies to show.
They take time to be made when the gluten is there. It is not a quick process. Even a month may be needed.

My regular doctor was out sick today, saw an experienced substitute. He was very thorough in his questions, reviewing my last upper GI and Colonoscopy (a few months ago) and said they did a test (biopsy?) for Gluten and I am fine. I asked him if I could have developed Celiacs or Gluten problems since then, he said no, he did not think so.

So much for the Gluten theory, per him.

He was more interested in my possible prostate cancer, saying the prostate could be the cause of the pain.

What a life!! Yesterday morning I mentioned seeing a black "J" in my right eye. Wife told me to call the eye doctor who told me to get to his office ASAP. We did. He did the usual stuff to my eyes, then sent me to a Retinal Specialist, saying he wasn't sure but thought I might have a detached or torn retina.

The specialist had better equipment and told us I have blood in the back of that eye and some other things to watch out for, said to come back if it got worse or 3 weeks, whichever comes first.

Maybe I need to ask you what I need to do for my eyes?????? Vitamins? Minerals? Prayer?

I had that happen years ago after a high blood pressure event from a very stressful work day. I lost some vision in the eye, at night, and had a shadow during the day.

I had to go to a retinal specialist who did an angiogram showing a blood clot in the right branch vein in the left eye.

This can also be caused from high homocysteine levels, which build up when B6, folate and B12 are low and not working right.
Perhaps you are one of the 10% who do not convert them in the body to their active forms. (P5P, methylfolate, and methylcobalamin). Failure with this conversion is a genetic problem, called a MTHFR mutation. People with this may develop high risk of heart attacks and strokes.

The RX Metanx is often given to correct this.

But a high blood pressure that is not controlled well with meds can be a cause. There are also retinopathies that happen in untreated diabetics. This causes bleeds too.

Low zinc can also affect the eye, leading to a macular degeneration from increased small blood vessel proliferation in the retina.

So several things can cause bleeds, or blood clots there.

Urologist canceled my biopsy, said I still have the infection. 12 days on 1000mg a day of Cipro did not run it off.
I am NOW on Nitrofurantoin Mono/Mac 100mg, twice daily for 30 days. The nurse did not elaborate as to where this problem came from. ANOTHER systemic infection.

You would think someone would get curious and think about curing me or finding out what is causing these continuing infections.

Finally found out why they can't do surgery for my Urinary Tract Problems, I have Neurogenic bladder and that certainly makes sense. No surgery for that.

Now it has a name. I am not sure why, but I feel a little better now. Take care....
