Shocked

Welcome to NeuroTalk:

I am very concerned about this post. If your sugar reading with a meter is this high, you need medical attention as soon as possible!

Please see a doctor as soon as you can. Whatever you are taking for your diabetes is not working for you, and you need some changes, far more than diet.

For my high blood sugar I was told to eliminate all added sugar. You may even have to watch which fruits you eat to stick to the lower sugar/higher fiber fruits. Simple, refined carbohydrates can also act like sugars so you want to avoid them as well.

As for the types of foods -- there is a saying about buying foods from the periphery of the store and avoiding the foods from the aisles. That is not exactly true as there are canned beans, for instance, with no added sugar, as well as dried bean, brown rice, tuna, etc. that are in those aisles, and those are fine for most people.

Your doctor should set you up with a dietitian. Some grocery stores now even have a dietitian in the store you can talk to for free.
