I have NOT watched it YET, but will and plan to send it on to a few people I know who take meds for Type II.

Just watched the Jason Fung video and good grief does he ever make sense. Intermittent fasting. All the drugs including insulin are just making the condition worse. I read many of the reviews too and so many positive results. Drugs drugs drugs. Pathetic. All the sugar stores need to be reduced and reduced.

Advice from professional dietitians is that foods which are eaten as a source of glucose (which is an essential nutrient) should be low GI.

That means that the glucose in them is released slowly during digestion, with corresponding slow insulin secretion. The contrast is with high GI foods in which glucose is released rapidly, with a corresponding rapid spike of insulin secretion - this can proceed to insulin resistance.

Examples of low GI foods include wholegrain bread (not white bread), brown rice (not white rice), brown (not white) pasta as well as many fruits and vegetables.

Eating in this healthy way can help people who are at risk of Type 2 Diabetes as well as other people though (same as for any other food) portion control is also important.

I've eliminated all bread, bagels, croissants, donuts etc etc in my house PERIOD. Nothing like a nice protein sandwich between nice leaves of romaine lettuce, organic preferable to me. I have sushi now and then, so the rice, and when I look at my bag of wild rice, I will cook a cup and get that out of my system.

I don't have diabetes and surely don't want it.

Dr. Mercola has a link on intermittent fasting and comments on Who Said We NEED 3 square meals daily.

This link discusses some recent papers in which the effects of intermittent fasting compared to other forms of caloric restriction were examined.

Despite the hype, intermittent fasting isn't a magic weight-loss cure
