Default A1c question

So I recently had some labs drawn due to an on set of peripheral neuropathy. I got some results back my A1c is 5.7 and my glucose was 117. Nothing noted on it by the doctor, but reading the labs i am right on the line of being pre-diabetic. Now I do have some other labs I am still waiting on so he may have some information when those are sent to me. I hate getting results at the end of the week. I guess I will wait until Monday. I guess I am wondering if he will consider that being prediabetes. He is ordering a couple of nerve study test as well. I have had crazy neuropathy in my feet for over a year now so I'm really glad that he is willing to dig deeper into this unlike some of my other doctors such as my family doctor and my endocrinologist. I even asked my endocrinologist if this could related diabetes issue when I brought it to his attention. Oh no he didn't think I had diabetes. Anyway I won't rant on all that.
Now I'm wondering if my plantars fascitus may have triggered all this or was that really PF in the first place. I'm just glad I am moving forward with a doctor that listened to me.

Plantar fasciitis and they are totally unrelated and one cannot cause the other.

I got Plantar fasciitis (most likely from wearing tight shoes during hot weather & my feet swelling) my chiropractor at the time treated it with adjustments, massage, stretching, low level laser and suggested arch support insoles , I had already gotten roomier shoes.

All those thing worked for me..the low level laser (aka soft or cold laser) took care of a lot of the acute pain & also helps with healing too..
I think he only did 3 treatments for my foot and then the arch supports and better shoe fit did the rest long term. That was 10+ years ago and no Plantar fasciitis issues since..

Might be worth looking into similar options....

Default Labs

I got the rest of my labs today. The nurse called and my doctor wants to do a video call in the morning. Their was one that was a little concerning called free kappa light chain. It was high. Who knows what it will be. Just trying not to panic over the unknown. Now I need to figure out how to log into the video visit. I don't even FaceTime so this should be fun lol.

Hi Razorbackfan,
I'm sorry I don't know much at all about kappa free light chains but if you can do a Google search, you might be able to find out more. I looked up a couple of links on it but the information there was pretty technical, I thought. Maybe someone else here can provide more useful information.

Good luck with the video visit. If it's Facetime, that seems fairly easy. Even I have been able to get along with it, using an older iPad2. I've glanced over the Zoom setup but not tried it. It seems to have more bells and whistles.

So far my doctors have been using phone visits. Maybe your doctor would be willing to do that if you don't feel up to whatever video arrangement is being used.

Hi Razorbackfan

Free kappa light chains can be a sign of multiple myeloma.

This information may help you with this.
