Well today was an interesting day. I'm on 18 or 19 of the Lantus once a day. I can't be more accurate than that. The syringe is just too hard to see (even with a magnifying glass).
But they are happy with the numbers. This a.m. my sugar reading was 104. But the funny part was when I got on the scale. They know not to tell me what I weigh, they can only tell me if I lost. So I'm on the scale backwards, and I'm thinking, "maybe 2, maybe 3??" Because at my last visit on June 25, I lost 5 and a half lbs for the previous 2 months. They thought it was great but if you break it down what is that 2.5 lbs a month? To me, that's nothing. But they were happy on that visit. So I get on the scale, face backwards, and I hear the woman say "what?? what??, I can't calculate this". I said: 'What do you mean, you can't calculate this, did I lose, or what??" She said "oh you lost, but I have to go and check your recent weight from the 25 of June, to see how much you lost, because I can't do these figures in my head". So I'm telling myself "What is she talking about, who can't subtract 2 or 3 lbs" So we go back into the other room where the computer is, and she brings up my charts, and she's writing and I blurt out "So tell me already, did I lose??" and she goes "You lost 14 lbs from June 25th". I have NEVER done that in my life. So we are all jumping for joy over this. Believe me, THIS WAS A GOOD VISIT for me. Anytime I lose weight is a reason for celebration, but 14 lbs, well, I was one happy camper. It's really good for my diabetes also. So to all of my fellow diabetic chubbetes out there in diabetes land, let me assure you, if this 60 year old can do it, I think ANYONE can!! I still can't believe this. They explained to me about plateauing and that I should not expect to repeat this. I laughed and said "repeat this??, I would have been happy with 2 lbs". They are very nice at Cornell. So best wishes to all of you!! Melody

I know I'm replying to my own post but I heard on the tv last night that Broccoli is very good for diabetes.
There's some kind of chemical in Broccoli that is key to either reversing diabetes or lowering the numbers. Just thought I would pass it along. Melody

thanks Dorrie:
I replied to your other post on the other thread. Yeah, I was shocked. Who the heck loses 14 lbs in a bit over 6 weeks? Not me, never in my entire life. So miracles do happen. I had to laugh when they said I'm going into the Research Lab. Can you imagine ME in a research lab? I'll probably touch everything and see what they are all about. I'm extremely curious when it comes to things scientific. I'm not a Star Trek Trekker for nothing you know (lol). I just hope I don't glow when I come home. lol Take care, Melody
