Default Staring seizures.

Has anyone ever had or experienced these types of episodes where you stare without blinking your eyes for 60-90 seconds, then get a strong headache followed with sleeping for two hours, usually occurring twice a day?

Thank you for any insight.

Hi 37IW,

It sounds like you are having absence also known as petit mal seizures. I've had this type of seizure for 39 yrs. If I may ask to feel confused after you have had the seizure like you're not sure where you are or what has been going on for the past few seconds? If you do that is difinitely an absence seizure. My advice to you is to go to an Epilepsy Center which are often at University Hospitals and see an Epileptologist (Dr. specializing in Epilepsy) Keep a journal of each time this happens by writing it down on a calendar. Be sure to write down what time the seizure happened along with a description also make sure you write down if you are sick or if theres a low pressure in the weather because often these are 2 things that can trigger seizures for some people. By keeping a journal the Dr. may see a pattern in your seizures and see what days of the month as well as what time of day or night you have seizures the most. The smart thing to do is to have a e.e.g. done along with an MRI. I'm sure the Dr. will order these tests. In the meantime start taking vitamin B12 1000 mcg. once a day this helps calm the nervous system, cut back on caffeine, carbs, and starch foods and don't use a cell phone that often because they can sometimes trigger seizures.
I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue

I agree with Sue on all the information. At one time I remember going though a phase like that. My memory reminds me that if a person would come up to me and ask a question I was unable to talk, but I would hear the question and unable to move my mouth till the seizure was over. Also try staying away from flashing lights. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
