I can't fully agree with what you had to say. I had brain surgery twice to have scar tissue removed from the left temperal lobe. The first one was back in 1986 and the second one was in 1998. They both went well. After the first surgery, I went from barely being able to talk due to speech and memory loss to being able to talk like a normal person. The seizures came back due to technology not being good enough to be able to remove all of the scar tissue so that's why I had the second brain surgery.

When I started seeing a new epileptologist due to some new problems, I went to see an ENT also. The first ENT talked about doing surgery to straighten out the bone in the middle of the nose. I also have some polyps that need to be removed. After talking to someone who had the surgery done, I turned it down because I have sleep apnea and wouldn't be able to use my CPAP machine for 3 days. When I went to see a new ENT, I brought this subject of to him and he told me that I'd be better off not to have the surgery because it could cause me to have problems with more seizures. As you can see, there are two sides to the story. Just because things went well for you doesn't mean that everyone should be doing the same thing. ;)

My father just recently had some problems with high blood pressure causing TIAs (minor strokes - no permanent damage) which can affect you similarly to what you are describing. You might want to check your blood pressure and make sure it isn't running amok. There are no good warning signs for high blood pressure until it's too late.

Well, I don't think I was implying that there were not other causes of seizures, such as brain damage, etc. However, it is interesting that your ENT doctors found polyps in your sinuses.

It is complicated, for despite what the cause of the seizures might be, brain surgery sometimes cures them. So your I don't think your experiences have really proved anything regarding the sinus problem. For instance, consider this: removing the polyps from your sinuses might have cured your seizures and you might not have had to have brain surgery.

Regarding sinus surgery, you can have the polyps removed without straightening out the septum--the cartelage down the center of the nasal passages. Straightening that out is the worst part of sinus surgery and should be avoided if possible.

Yes it can return. A friend of mine had a brain surgery (right temporal lobectomy). Then 9 and a half years later her complex partial seizures started right up again. I'm very sorry to hear what you're going through.

To me it sounds like hormonal changes. That was what started it for me, along with added stress. My suggeastion is keep a journal of things that happen, times of day and what was happennig. Even keep track of foods you ate, they can trigger it.

I suggest this, as for me things that did not trigger it now does. As in mid forty's things start shifting in our body's

I would like information on epilepsy and sinus please, as i do have problems with sinus. i have had seizures for 50 years and it is not under control.
