Hi, I was hoping to pick your brains (no pun intended) and see what you all thought of my weird problem. The doctors all say it sounds like seizures, and a CAT scan reveals nothing, but that's all they know. This week, I'll be having an MRI and MRA. this started a year ago. I get an aura I can't describe and know it's about to happen. 20ish seconds later, I get almost total amnesia, where it seems all I know is my name, but that's it. I ask orienting questions repeatedly to any one who's there with me, and I reportedly get very pale and then vomit. it passes after a minute our two and then I spend several his in a daze.
Had anyone heard of something like that? Any leads. Thank you! Becca |

It certainly sounds like some type of epilepsy, but sadly I don't know much about this condition. I was wondering if you've heard of "Absence Seizures"? They typically affect children, but maybe you have an atypical form of this. Just a thought ......

Hi Kloser2fine,
Welcome to the forum! What you are describins sounds like a aura (simple partial) seizure that is leading into an Absence (petit mal) seizure. I've had this type of seizure for 40 yrs. now but I never vomit. Often a person can have a CAT scan, MRI, or e.e.g and it won't show any problems and that's because the damage is in to deep in the brain for any of the tests to show. Start keeping track of when you have any of these possible seizures and write them down on a calendar stating what time the seizure happened along with a description of the seizure by doing this you may see a pattern in your seizures as to what day's of the month or what time of the day/night you are more likely to have any seizures. I've seen many different neurologist over the yrs. but I found I got the best help seeing an Epileptologist (Dr. specializing in epilepsy) You can find an Epileptologist at a Epilepsy Center which are usually at University or Big Hospitals. I was able to have brains surgery done to help reduce my seizures and I also found out that taking vitamin B12 once a day reduced my seizures a lot so you might want to start taking vitamin B12 once a day to see if it helps you also. Cut back on the carbs and starch foods because they turn into sugar which in turn can trigger seizures. Also cut back on caffeine, I'm only allowed to have 4 cups of caffeine in a day. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You! Sue |

Becca, Hello and welcome to NeuroTalk. ![]() I will agree with Sue it does sound as though it is an aura. She also gave you some great things to care for to keep records of. Again welcome, looking forward to seeing you around. My thoughts and prayers are with you. ![]() Darlene ![]()
