Hi Lisa,
I'm glad to hear the good news that your husbands blood work came back fine. It's up to the both of you but when you and your husband see the neuro you might want to ask for a DNA test to be done to find the correct sz. med and be sure to let the neuro know of any other meds your husband is taking. I've found that over the yrs. the neuro doesn't know as much about meds as a pharmacist so often I will check with my pharmacist and he can really give me details on the sz. meds will interact with anything else I take. I wish you and your husband only the best and May God Bless You Both! Sue |
Thanks Sue, I have the DNA test on my question list for neurologist. Since its our first visit I'm thinkin he will answer most of my questions, but is there any thing else I should ask?

Hi Lisa,
You might want to ask if there's any connection to your husbands heart problems triggering the sz. I would also ask the neuro to do a e.e.g. and MRI if these tests haven't been done yet. Ask the Dr. to do a special e.e.g. if your think that certain sounds or colors could be triggering your husbands sz. Be sure to describe what the sz. are like, find out what area of your husbands brain is triggering the sz. and if needed ask the neuro to do a veeg (video e.e.g.) so they can watch your husband on camera to see what his sz. are like and whatever you do don't let the neuro push a lot of sz. meds on your husband because often they will do this to make money for themselves. I wish you and your husband the best of luck and May God Bless You Both! Sue |

Hi Lisa,
Thank you for keeping us up to date. Having a sleep study is simple. They will attach some wires on to his head with a paste. This will allow him to relax and with the eeg they could possibly locate a place on the brain where his problem is coming from. I too take Lamictal, have for several years. I too am on keprra, but what will help one person may not help with another. The doctor will find the right medicine for him. Hope you have found a neuro to help him find the problem out. I feel he is so lucky to have a wife like you. I do have a great husband who stand right by me. My thoughts and prayers are with him and you. Darlene  |
Hi Lisa,
Take my word my balance has always been bad since I got epilepsy. My neuro would try to get me to try and walk a straight line but I never could and this shows what area of the brain may be triggering sz. It's the cerebellum in a persons brain that helps them keep there balance. Just like your husband I'm going in for a sleep study in a couple of weeks. This will show if he's having any sz. while sleeping as well as what area of his brain is the most active. I tried Lamictal a few yrs. ago but I was allergic to the drug and I had to go off of it. Take my word the e.e.g . will be a big help to find out what's going on. I wish you and your husband only the best of luck and May God Bless You Both! Sue |
Thanks sue and Darlene!! I am soooo glad I found this website and friends I can talk to. I feel like I'm at wits end. Dean is so depressed and aggravated and I can understand why, I just don't know what to do. I hope the Lamictal helps. I know the dr. went over the side effects and hope he doesn't get any, can also make his headaches worse although I don't think they can get much worse. Thnaks again for all the help and for listening to me!!

Hi Lisa,
I'm glad to hear that things went well for you and Dean. I'm sorry he is feeling depressed but take my word that comes with the epilepsy and the sz. med a person takes. Also if Dean has had any type of open heart surgery that can also cause depression. I know this because my dad had a triple by pass done a few yrs. ago and he was very depressed after the surgery and he was like this for about 1 yr. if not longer. Wishing the both of you only the best and May God Bless You! Sue |
