Hi Folks,
On August 11th did any of you watch the CNN report on medical marijuana? There was a little girl who was having 300 sz. a week and her parents tried every AED they could but nothing worked so she was put on medical marijuana and now she has 1-2 sz. a week. It was amazing. My Epileptologist wants me to try the marijuana and the trick is to make sure that that THC level is low, this is where a person gets high while the BDE level is high and this is what helps people with epilepsy, cancer, and many other medical problems. If you are interested in watching the video here's the webpage. http://Coloradocannabisblog.com/archives/63307 Here's wishing all of you well and May God Bless You! Sue |

Hi Msudawg89,
They are making the medical marijuana in a pill form but that is for people who have eating disorders and it will not help those that have sz. I did find out that once the state passes the medical marijuana a person has to have a 420 card which is a card stating that you have the right to be carrying medical marijuana with you but if anyone ever gave a person some they can end up in prison. To get the 420 card a person has to see a lawyer and get all the paper work taken care of, and have a birth certificate, Drs. note that you are to have the medical marijuana and for what medical purpose then you also have to pay a certain amount to the county and state you live in to get the card. I would have to pay anywhere from $100-$250 to both the state and county to have the card in my hands it's a money making scheme for the state and county to make money when all a person should really have to do is see a lawyer to get everything taken care of. Here's wishing you the best of luck and May God Bless You, Sue |

Hi Sue and Msudawg89,
I just noticed the title on your thread, Sue, and wanted to say that this has been in the news so much here in Australia in the past 6 months, especially regarding paediatric epilepsy and reportedly with some excellent results. We're quite behind here with regard to this issue unfortunately. Here is just one of many, many news stories from over here. In this particular case the parents used a liquid. Hi Lara,
Thank you so much for sharing your story, take my word the U.S. is very behind in approving medical marijuana and there's a lot of politicians that are giving people a hard time about it. I do know that it will be expensive to buy and some places in the U.S. want to put a tax on it so they can make extra money for themselves which in turn will cost people a lot of money. I'm not sure but I have a feeling it will be another 1-2 yrs. before the U.S. will finally approve of the medical marijuana. Right now only 20 hospitals are allowed to use this to see how it will help people with epilepsy, MS, serve back pain and cancer. They are finding that it is stopping cancer in some people. Here's wishing you well it was great to hear from you and May God Bless You! Sue |

I don't really know anything about the effectivness of marijuanna on seizures or other illnesess but if it does help I fear, like many medications, it will be so over priced that those truly in need will do without. My mother is diabetic, has parkinsins(sp) and liver disease and often must pick and choose which meds to get. Even with medicare its often more than she can afford. |

Hi Mellissa,
Yes, you are correct medical marijuana is very expensive and in some states they want to tax the med to make more money. They already have the medical marijuana pill out but that's only for people who have eating disorders. The medical marijuana that we would need is a specially grown plant where the THC level is very low and that is the stuff that can get a person high while the CBD level is high and it calms a persons nerves down stopping sz. pain, and slowing up cancer. If I'm not mistaken they are also using it for Parkinsons but you may want to double check. I'm glad to hear that you are using the Chantix to stop smoking my husband used it about 5 or 6 yrs. ago to stop his smoking and it did a great job for him, just be careful and try not to put on the weight that's what happened to my husband after he stopped smoking because he always wanted something in his mouth to replace the cigarette so he ate to much and now he is paying the price for it. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You! Sue |
