Confused Anyone on Keppra ?

Hi - I have been on Dilantin & Lamictal in the past. In January of this year my neuro switched me to Keppra and I have been seizure free for six months. Until the other night - I fell asleep on the couch and forgot to take my meds.....and had one in my sleep (which is the only type of seizure I have so is normal for me).

Anyone have any similar experiences? Or success with Keppra - tips, etc.....

my husband was on keppra for about 3 years and it helped but then stopped working. I never noticed the keppra rage I've read about.

On April 1st he woke up and had a seizure. This continued for a week. I took him to the hospital where they kept him for a week. They felt the keppra wasn't getting him through the night, so they upped the bedtime dosage.

He was released and went back to work. The following Monday, May 2nd (?)it started all over again. He was hospitalized a week but this time the started decreasing his meds and did VEEG.

He's now on tegretol xr, lamictal and lyrica.

I was on Keppra, but unfortunately had bad side
effects associated with it and had to be taken
off of it. I was doing fine with it to a certain level
but once it got to a higher level, just couldn't
tolerate it. I didn't experience Kep-rage, but it
did put me into psychosis state though at 1500 mg
2 x a day (3000 mg total).

I'm currently on Zonegran 500 mg with Klonopin 1.5
mg with Folate 2 mg daily, since January and it's
working out pretty good so far.

Hi eb,
My epi wanted me to try keppra in April but after finding out how it can cause a person to have a temper and be very moody I decided to stay on diamox and mysoline. These are the only 2 sz. meds that have worked for me and I've been on 13 or more different sz meds (AED's). I'm glad the keppra is working well for you. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

eb - I was on Keppra for a long time. Of course, that was with other complex partial meds and, of course, I can't remember the dosage.
I don't remember having any major trouble with it or hating it like some of the others.

Thumbs up

eb,

I have been on Keppra for a few years now and have had no problem with. It has help control my spells and when I have a spells it is a lot easier and shorter on me. I am also on lamital, it to has helped a great deal. Hope I have help a little, but is good for may not for others as you may know. Tegretol was a bad one for me causing me to see about five items at a time. (that really bad, as on one Sunday I got five sermons all at one time).

Good luck!

Darlene
