Heart i want to get off the keppra!!!!1

I have had around 10 grandmal seizures in my life all from stimulant abuse. I have been clean from that for 6 months and am in recovery and in anonymous groups and social gatherings. I have been able to beat the Keppra every time I get clean but I knew I was pushing the envelope. Im really serious now I know it. I tried to ween myself off of the keppra eating half a pill instead of the wole 500mg. no good had grandmal seizure two days later.lol .. was not fun. how bad could it be? have I reached the point of no return? help if you can

Do not try to wean yourself off of medications. I recommend you discuss this with your Physicians upfront. Talk to BOTH - your Primary (Who's in charge of your whole well being) and ask for his/her's opinion. Your Neurologist is actually in charge of the nervous system. Typically, if you have not had seizures or the med/meds you are on isn't working. Then there are other options and avenues to take. Do not rely on what people say on the internet, what they advise on the internet. Stick to your medical treating Physician(s); they know what's best suited to you.

Keep in mind - just because you heard, or you read, or you seen ABC and XYZ took themselves off and were successful. The real picture here is - yes, I took myself off the meds and it wasn't an option or a choice.

So it seemed that the **politicians decided they were the final "decision" and knowing I only had xxx time left which was not so wonderful by reason that my own State ** saw that it was to be enforced. Which irks me to death that Politicians feels the need to be Medical Doctors without any medical background or knowledge imposed on everyone with the attitude of "One Size Fits All"...

During this phase, eventually my Neuro got the axe (By the State) and could no longer treat ne, and he did keep in touch with my Primary - which my Primary was monitoring me. He didn't have to worry about me too much for he knew I had extensive knowledge base and medical experience. This was NOT, I repeat - N-O-T a Solo event - we all worked together. Even when my Neuro could no longer see me, my Primary touched bases and gave him the upfront info and kept him finely tuned!

Recommendation - you follow the same pattern, some folks are only decreased in meds - not 100% off.. which is far better and less risky that a "quickie" as it were in my case.

WHAT WORKS FOR OTHERS DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL WORK FOR YOU - EVERYONE IS UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL, AND MUST BE TAILORED ACCORDINGLY!
