Trig animated graphics:Scintillating Scotomas

I am putting this topic here because I have Epilesy and it may be connected. I get these things but hardly ever a headache afterwards so I can't Really say it's Migrane, not classicly anyway.

I get these THINGS and I hate it when it happens. I have to go lay down in a dark room until it's over. Recently, in the past 2 weeks I seem to be getting them at least once a day, usually when I first wake up. I haven't had one in about a year before this. I JUST had one an hour ago and my vision is still a bit blurry. I have had these things since I was about 14. My Dad had them too. We often talked about it but neither of us talked to a doctor about it.

BUT here is the BEST animation of one I've ever seen and a really good explanation of what they are:

Here are some illistrations of what they look like. Not exactly for me but close. I am still looking for some vivid animations. I am so glad I am researching this online. It makes me feel so much better to actually SEE what other people see.

http://www.migraine-aura.org/EN/Delia_Malchert.html

Mine are Quite sparkley and today I actually saw RED in them. Something I haven't seen before. I do time mine and it's usually 30 minutes from the first little blind spot to the end when it makes it's way left out of my visual field. At about the 1/3 point I am useless. I can't see anything BUT it and that's when Panic sets in.

AND let me add this. I was just thinking how people like to label other people who have problems they themselves don't have and know nothing about. This is a debilitating occurrance. You can't think or see while it's happening and your vision and thinking aren't right for a while after it's over either. It's something I wouldn't wish on my Worst enemy. And I am very sensitive about people throwing in their 2 cents worth of uninformed nastiness. Unless you have experienced this then really, you have Nothing to say about the people it happens to. AND God just might inflict it on you someday too, THEN you'll understand.

I knew someone once who made fun of a lady who has whiskers like a man. And guess what? She go sick and after her illness SHE started to grow whiskers. She told me NOW she knows how it feels to be made fun of and she was very remorseful about it too. She swore she'd NEVER make fun of people's problems again.

Red face

One interesting thing has happened. After adjusting ALL the screens to low bightness and contrast AND getting away from some people who were making me very upset and fearful, the SSs have stopped.

I noticed when I was in a heightened state of fear and anxiety I was getting them Everyday. I guess I have to stay away from those kinds of people in the future.

I hope this animation works here:

Yep, it does in Preview so I hope it works on the board. This is about the best animation, the ONLY animation I have found so far. But I am still looking.

yes kime that is true, but most who get seizures from graffics on computers will have them turned off.

why take a risk? there is no way anyone would know what a web site has on it before you open it.

I have added a trigger icon and a title change warning of the animated graphics.

I agree with curious that it is always safest for anyone who could be triggered by graphics to keep them turned off just to be safe

Shocked

" Trigger!animated graphics:Scintillating Scotomas " That's OverKill I think. I deal with animations all the time. It's the Brightness and contrasts that do me in. BUT I know where you're going with this. I think you mean like those Really CRAZY Optical Illusions, Yes, they mess me up pretty good but I really dont like the " Trigger!animated graphics " BEFORE the SS. I think it could be AFTER it as a Caution. Like this: " Scintillating Scotomas, MAY trigger siezures " The way it is now No one will even LOOK at this thread. I certainly wouldn't and I MADE it.

No, sorry. Even that's not right. Just delete the thread. The whole meaning and intent is now down the toilet.

Hi Wiix,
I checked the thread.

I don't usually check the Epilepsy forum but I do get migraines. That image in post no 5 is very similar to what I see when I get my migraines with aura. I don't necessarily get any pain at all, although I often feel "flat" or tired for about 3 days. p.s. migraines do often tend to run in families.

p.s. don't forget there's also a Headache forum here. I just checked there now. I used to have a really great site for all the different types of migraines but I can't find it right now.

Thanks Lara, neither do I. ONLY pain I might have is if I cough, I get pain in front of my head a few days before and after an attack.
