Default How to prevent docs from being incoherents?

I am having problem with the medical fields. Without going into details, I do wonder about the seriousness of some doctors-specialists. Some are mindless, forget to enter data in pc so next visit they go as far as argue giving prescriptions or playing with dosage. Other listen and are disturbed by phone or else or mind elswhere and write half what is needed, and what gets in writing is not all conform to what should be. Last field seen got me to worry as all he cared about was the 'what disturb you the most at the moment' and not interested in all the problem(s) and issue(s) that should be dealt with.

How to go about keeping them in tract and avoiding getting lost into the system of 'carelessness' shown by some of them? I know i am not fortunate but this is not helping me for my cures nor in preventing from worsening which is the issue at hand. Getting scared how this will all end up.

Have you had problems with your own doctors and or specialists? How did you resolved or gone about it to solve at best this kind of problems?

I have daily seizures (night as well) so getting scared to sleep and ended up more sick than ever and more medication to make me sleep but its not working as it should (probably to scared to fall asleep). I am on depakin, lyrac and other medications for neuropathy, chronic pain, sleep and psi medication as well as all influence or play on other illnesses and issues.
So any suggestions, inputs will be more than welcome and appreciated.

Hope you have some ideas coz I am going out of my mind and loosing hope in finding a solution.

Hi,
I've had my go arounds with my different neuro's I've seen over the past 35 yrs. a lot of them were drug pushers where they would make money from the pharmacy's that made the drugs. What I finally did with one neuro. was report the neuro to the Medical Conduct Board and they did an investigation on the neuro. to find out he was only pushing drugs to make money for himself.
One thing you might want to try taking is vitamin B12 1000mcg. a day. I found that has helped reduce my sz. more than anything. I have also noticed that the more drugs I'm on the more sz. I have because the drugs will often interact with each other causing more sz. I used to take 5 different sz. meds but now I only take 2 different meds and I have fewer sz. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Sue

your concern is not at all uncommon. You will read many posts from people having problems with their docs or still on many meds even though seizures are not controlled. What kind of doc are you seeing? Is he/she a neurologist or an Epileptologist? It makes a huge difference as all here know who see Epis. If one says neuro, to me that tells me they mean general neurologist adn new comers think that too not knowing there is another specialist with more advanced training in Epilepsy with more treatment options available. I finally learned of this advanced specialist and went to one after 30 years of seizures. I now have not lost consciousness since 1998 when I had surgery. My life has totally changed for the better! Had one general neurologist thought about me, the patient, instead of his practice and ego, he may have referred me to the Epileptologist many years sooner which would have changed my life in a big way. I encourage you to seek out a Comprehensive Epilepsy Center with Board certified Epileptologists on staff. Your PCP can refer you. You tell him to do this if he is hesitant. You are his patient, and he will get a report of each visit if he does the referral. Medical Centers associated with Universities usually have a Comprehensive Center. I started adding peanuts to my morning diet since there was a possibility that natural progestrone was made from the peanut plant and since progesterone raises tha seizure threshold. In care you didn't know. Estrogen lowers the threshold making us more vulnerable to having seizures. I too take a Multivitamin with all the B vitamins; Selenium; Zinc; and Magnesium, daily and have for several years. Sue is right about the too many meds. More is not necessarily better by a long shot. I hope you do check into a comprehensive Cener and get the care you need and deserve. Tattoo

Hi,

I had the same problem, and coupled with memory loss, I was most unhappy. So I added a page to my journal, that was specifically for questions I needed answering...It worked...Now I get answers to every question, because I Don't forget the questions any more...and I do not allow him to brush my questions aside. He now actually writes the answers to my questions on the sheet I added...

Good Luck...
