Hi,
I've been on...
pheno neurontin
tegretol mysoline
trileptal topamax
zarontin diamox
dilantin klonopin
depekene lamictal

As you can see I'm drug resistant

The AED's that gave me the worst time were:
Neurontin- caused me to have status sz. (which I never had before.)
Topamax- Increased the amount of sz. I had in 1 month
Depekene- ate up the blood platlets,and caused anorexia.
Lamictal- caused me to break out with a rash.

The best AED's for me is Mysoline and Diamox they seem to control my sz. the best and have very few side effects. With diamox I will admit that it has caused me to not have much of an appetite and I can get a sunburn easy but other than that things fine. Here's wishing all of you well and May God Bless You!

Sue

Klonipin = Became highly toxic
Topamax = Severe eye pain
Lamictal = Alergic reaction, began with lips swelling
Depakote = Became over agitated (was throwing, dishes, chairs)
Neurontin = Same as Depakote however it took alonger time for these symptoms to appear.

All I take now is Dilantin 200mg.

Yeap. Wasn't one of my better reactions to medications. If I had had my little snits in Wal-Fart or the BX, I would have been arrested.

So far I have had Dilantin, Trileptal, Depakote ER, various migraine meds (Relpax, the overpriced poc drug) and Keppra

They had my Trileptal dose too high and it made me puke (a lot), Depakote made my hair fall out and made me very cranky, Dilantin didn't do anything (that was for my Trigeminal Neuralgia), Keppra currently isn't working well and my sz's increased (now having nocturnals, etc.).

I don't like pills, but I have some issues with family addictions and I'm rather paranoid. That's a whole 'nother story though.

I haven't tried sabril and mysoline....
I think I've been on everything else.
Gabatril (sp?) and zonegran both turned me into walking/stumbling zombie.
Depakote made me gain a lot of weight and lose lots of hair.
Dilantin caused fairly severe osteoporosis.
Starting Topamax at too high dosage caused extreme weight loss.

I've only experienced two/three meds.
Dilantin gave me severe mood swings, excess body hair, gum overgrowth and horrible teeth, and didn't help my myoclonic szs.
Depakote (the regular stuff) I think gives me digestive problems. The ER is a bit better. They both make me gain weight. I just upped my dosage -- looks like it's time for another round of clothes shopping! We'll see if it makes my hair fall out; I guess I'll just shave my head again if it does.
