Default We Have A Celebrity!

I know that on other communtities before we were rehomed here, many were kind of bummed that Elton John had not done much for Epilepsy Awareness. Considering he has Epilepsy, I've found many to have been somewhat insulted about it.

However, after being given some information - I verified that we do have one of our own.

Amy Lee, the lead singer of Evanescence, has started an Epilepsy Awareness project. It took me some time to hunt down the information regarding why she had chosen Epilepsy, but I finally got it. She has this very kind user in their chatroom (Kaydee, I think - I forgot) who was able to help me out. It seems that Amy's little brother had been diagnosed with Epilepsy and she, too, felt like many have when first hearing about this.

People only know of the 'one type' of Epilepsy, so once she realized he was still her brother she has made it a personal goal to educate people about Epilepsy.

I tried to check out her forums, but like many fansites these days, you have to pay for it. I just wanted to post a thank you, but hey, my meds are expensive so maybe one day she will find herself here to see this message. Who knows?!

Anyway, here is the link for those interested: http://outoftheshadows.com/

There was more information on a MySpace page by a fan, however, that website is not friendly at all with anyone who suffers with any photosensitivity problems (plus they have some vulgar content). If you are able to, I forgot the site - but it's on myspace somewhere. Maybe search "Epilepsy" and see what you find.

I just wanted to share with everyone, because it's nice to see when people are trying to help.

Thats really great of her. That would be nice if some talk show now wants to talk to her & about her site....thus telling everyone the truth about epilepsy.

Hi Ellie,
Thanks for the great info. My brother in law works for country music singer: Collin Raye, Collins son has MS which has caused him to have sz. also. I spoke with Collin awhile ago at one of his concerts back stage. I will see if I can get my brother in law to have him e-mail me to help support people with E. as well as MS. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Sue
