Default 1st time here

Hello, this is my first time here. My 16 yr old son has had e for the past 10 years now. Thought I could do this on my own but I'm at the end of the rope. I think its time to get to know other people who are going thru the samething I am, so I no longer feel so alone. It actually took me 10 years to start accepting the fact that i need help.

Thumbs up

Jasmom,

Hello and welcome to the epilepsy forum of NeuroTalk. There a great number of friends here to help you out as they can. You will not be alone here. I developed epilepsy at the age of 10, so I have lived with it most of my life.

What type of meds is he on and other treatments he has had? Also what type of spells does he have?

Again welcome aboard we are here for each other.

Darlene

Hi Jasmom,
Welcome to the forum! I've had epilepsy since I was 10 yrs. old (45 now). I've had 2 brain surgeries to reduce my seizures since I've tried over 13 different seizure meds over the yrs. only to find that I'm drug resistant.
If I may ask what type of seizures does your son have and what meds is he taking?
One thing I learned is to stay away from nutra sweet because it can cause more electrical activity in the brain which can lead to seizures for many people. I've also tried the ketogenic diet and that has help cut back on my seizures greatly along with taking vitamin B12 once a day.
Feel free to ask any question everyone here will be happy to help out.
Here's wishing you and your family the best and May God Bless You!
