Hi rwb1,
Welcome to the forum! I've never been on zonegran but the rash you are describing sounds like what happened to me when I was put on lamictal I broke out with red spots all over my skin, and then the red spots began to itch. I had to see a dermatologist (skin specialist) who did a biopsy on me and found I was allergic to the drug. I was then given perscription steroid cream to put on my skin to stop the itching. My advice to you is to call your pharmacist and get the detail on the rash zonegran can cause and then see a dermatologist a.s.a.p. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue

Default zonegran rash

hey rwb1,
I've been on zonegran for quite sometime too. Now for quite some time ALL year long my nose is swallen shut. So i wonder what med I might be allergic to, or what other thing. But as for zonegran it will be nice for me to get off of it. I say that because of the side effect i saw that it has. I read that one of it's side effects is kidney stones, and that will bring a man to his knee's in tears. That i don't need right now. but tegretol has given me the runs for 16 years. Then after the first few years i ended up with hemorrhoids now for life. I hope that things work out for you and your doc gets this figured out, or sends you to an allergist to see what the problem is. Take care.

Zonegran.com

From their website in regards to Zonegran:
(partial quote)

Quote:
Important Safety Information

Zonegran (zonisamide) capsules is a medicine used to treat partial seizures in adults. It is taken with other seizure medicines to help control your seizures.

Zonegran is not right for everyone. You should not take Zonegran if you are allergic to sulfa drugs. Call your doctor right away if you experience a rash; your seizures worsen; you experience sudden back pain, abdominal pain, or blood in your urine; fever, sore throat, or bruising easily; depression or unusual thoughts; extreme drowsiness, difficulty concentrating, or coordination problems; speech or language problems.
If you are experiencing this, then it is strongly recommended
that you contact your Doctor's Office and notify them, but
whatever you do, do not remove yourself off of the medication
without your Doctor's supervision or advisories.
