Default seizures and more

Hello Everyone!
About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with epilepsy. I am now 46. Since then I have developed alot of other problems... nothing to do with my seizures though.
My Dad suffered with MS and lupus. He passed away last June.
Recently I had an MRI of my brain because of weird headaches and sick to my belly etc. These headaches were not severe and have gone away. They showed up after major dental work. The result of the MRI was white spots on my brain. My doctor tells me they are from migraine headaches. I have NEVER had such a headache described by people that do have migraines. He said they could also be from my seizures.
I have never believed I have seizures and they have never showed up on an EEG. When i do have an episode I stare, then get very stiff, turn my head to one side or another and cry. I could hear people talking to me but I cannot answer them back. I am exhausted after and I could sleep for days. Sometimes I have a headache after.
I am being treated for seizures by a neurologist and I am taking Lamictal and adivan.
What do you think?

Hi MrsVal,
Welcome to the forum! We're both the same age and I started having seizures when I was 10 yrs. old. I started having migraine headaches that would last for days and I would be depressed after that the absence (petit mal) seizures started and then about 2 yrs. later I began having complex partial sz. also. Depression, migraines, crying is all connected to epilepsy. The white spots your neuro. saw could possibly be either lesions or scar tissue on the brain. My seizures started from scar tissue on the right temporal lobe but I had surgery done to remove 75% of the scar tissue and take all of the right hippocampus of my brain out. By doing this my seizures were reduced 50% or more. They type of seizure you are discribing sounds like a simple partial seizure also known as an aura seizure. My advice to you is to cut back on the carbs. and proteins, and eat foods high in fat this is known as the ketogenic diet and it helps reduce seizures. Also try taking vitamin B12 1000 mcg. a day, stay away from anything with nutra sweet in it because nutra sweet can cause more electrical activity in the brain which leads to seizures. Keep a log of your seizures by writing down what time the seizure happened along with a discription of the seizure also write down when you start and stop your monthly cycle because the change in hormones can often cause seizures for women. If you're interested check out this website for more info. And go to an Epilepsy Center and see an Epileptologist (Dr. specializing in Epilepsy) you can usually find an Epilepsy Center at University Hospitals. Wishing you the best of luck and May God Bless You!
