Default Foods that trigger

I have noticed this morning, I had absence szs. I have been off caffine and
by mistake last nite I had a chai tea which I enjoyed so much. But
unfortunalty it gave me a few absences in the morning.

NO MORE CAFFINATED DRINKS FOR ME!!

Does anybody else have food triggers?

Hi Riva,
The main things that trigger sz. for me is diet soda or anything with nutra sweet (aspartame) in it. Also to much caffeine, carbs. and starch foods. My epi told me to stay away from herbal teas and foods because that also can trigger an absence sz. for me. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

yes, me too for artificial sweetners. MSG too.

what really gets me is milky coffee. i have real problems with lactose, and the combination of the cafene and the lactose puts me out and makes me run for the bathroom all at the same time. i never drank that again.

You mean, aside from the shellfish that puts me into anaphylactic shock?

Anything that spikes my blood sugar on an empty stomach lowers my seizure threshold. Doesn't give me szs per se, but makes me feel just as weird.
Donuts in the morning (mmmmm, dooonuttttts), soda as a snack, etc.

However, if all of my triggers are lined up in a row, a sugary snack on an empty stomach in the morning can push me right over the edge into a GM. Bleah.

Dairy is Tom's main trigger. Once we got him off all dairy, we were able to get him off all AEDs. That made it easy to figure out other triggers. Rice and coconut, as well as getting sick. It's not an immediate seizure, but seems to hit around 2am. However, since I read all labels of what he eats, it's been pretty easy to figure out what he ate different that day. Or, if he's sick.

Wow, that is great that you con control seizures with food. Congrats to you!!!
I am useing homepathy after running out of meds. BUt since it took me
so long to go to a homepathy Dr I doubt I will get off the last 1/2 tab of
mysoline I am on. I know thats nothing to complain about .But it does seem
so stupid that I can't get off the last half of tab of meds.

I guess I need to celebrate this instead of complaining.

Here's to all of us becomeing seizure free!!!!!
