To those of you interested, OSHU a Portland hospital has performed an expirmental
operation in the brain giving a child stem cells in the hopes of stopping or maybe even curing his Batten disease. If you would like to check the story outThe Oregonian has 2 articles on stem cell research on the brian . This little boy had stem cells injected in him in the hopes it will stop his Batten disease. Its in Monday paper , Dec 11-Metro section. Stem cell surgery gives boy hope past article on oregonianextra.blogs.oregonlive.com the company that sponsered the trails is Palo Alto,Cali-based STEMCells INC. As of today December 12,06 The family reported he has smiled and talked and will be going home from the hospital. The hospital stated they will be doing 12-24 more operations on children.
