Default Zonegran and Lamictal Combo

All,
I have been presecribed Zonegran and lamictal by my epileptologist. I have idipathic generalized Epilepsy ( they finally made a diagnosis on that one)>
I was on Tegretol but it was no longer controlling the seizures. Since it is bad fit for IGE, I have now been asked to taper Tegretol off and Start on Zonegran. I was already on Lamical( 150 mg BID).

Is anyone else on that combo or has the same type of epilepsy?
What has been your experience on it?
Did it affect memory or word recall?
How did you combat that? Vitamins etc?

Looking forward to hearing from all of you.
JJ

Hi JJ,
When I took zonegran I was taking it with mysoline (primidone) and it really didn't help me at all. so I went back on Diamox. Zonegran made me really tired. It didn't bother my memory nor did it mess up things when I took vitamins. I also tried lamictal but I broke out with a rash after being on it for only 4 days. I hope it works better for you than it did for me. Wishing you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue,
Thank you for your good wishes. I guess all of us here need it more than others. The last 3 years havent been great. After a long time being seizure free, I started sezing again. We have been going through the whole dose titration and experimentation with new meds.

The good news is that i finally have a diagnosis of Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsyand there maybe 4-5 drugs that show promise.

Hopefully it will work. I am keeping my fingers crossed and leave everything else in God's Hands.

Thank you and may God bless you too!!
Monica

Default Zonegran and Lamictal

Dear Javajane
I to am on Zoneagran but I am on tegretoll instead of Lamictal I was on lamictal but was taken off it because I had bad side affects go figure. (lol) But they never Generlized my Epilepsy when they made my Diagnosis they just said that it was coming more from the right side of the brain then the left so that is why surgery was never a full opion for me.but back to your question I have always had a bad memory so I could not tell you if it affected my memory or not and when I take Vitamins I am fine thank you and god bless
