Default Hi

I don't have Epilepsy but someone sent me here from the depression forum. I am in the process of fighting to get the vegas nerve stimulator put in for depression. I do know it is used for Epilepsy and was wondering if any of you have it implanted or know of anyone who does.

I'm excited about this option for me because they say it does help for depression and it was approved by the FDA in July for depression so my Dr. and I have started our fight for it.

Thanks for any input on it.
Ada

My son is on his 2nd one for seizures.

And we would do it again in a heart beat.

I would to a google on the VNS, depression and you would find great links to help.

We were one of the lucky ones, my son went 182 days without a seizure after the first one was implanted... silly EX neuro mucked it up for us because of my hubby loosing his job and us putting my son on medicaid... he was suddenly ''cured'' (we think it is because of the reimbursement $$).

Fired him and now with a wonderful epileptologist (300 miles away) and trying to get control again.

Ada,

I have had the VNS for epilepsy for three years, it work out great for me because my spells have cut down to about 2 a month.

As for depression you might try the VNS messageboard. THere are some in there that have had good results with it on depresstion.

Good luck!
