Question Quesion about footwear-

I am having a problem with deciding on slippers. I cannot figure out what kind of slippers would be best to buy for my poor sensitive feet. They hate the cold (it increases the peripheral neuropathy and fibro pain) so they need to be covered in the winter. Right now I am in socks and flip-flops which works for the fall but now that it is getting really cold it isn't really working anymore.

I want slippers that are really soft but I can't figure out what kind that would be... (Memory Foam maybe?) does anyone have any experience or suggestions? All help is extremely welcome!!

Hi there,

I have the same problem with cold triggering PN pain in my feet, and making the pain worse. It's so bad in the winter that even socks hurt, and my feet sweat from a problem with the autonomic system which makes them even colder.

The best thing I've found is sheep fleece, not the synthetic kind because it doesn't breath. Even fleece feels like lots of little needles pricking my skin so I wear cotton socks inside these slippers.

The look like short boots, or booties and are suede on the outside. I even got compliments on them when I was wearing them year-round. I keep looking for ones that have a rubber heal but so far I can only find those in mens. The others just have suede on the bottom. Still, they last a long time.

If I can find them in a catalog I will provide a link. I haven't needed to buy them in awhile. But just look for sheep fleece lining.

Oh! I also wear Uggs. They may cost more than other boots but they are roomy, have sheep fleece, and about the warmest, and are the *most soft* boot out there.

I don't like memory foam because my feet sink into them and the material rubs on the sides of my feet causing more pain. But my feet might be more sensitive than yours?

Let me know if you find anything else that works. Do you know of any good socks that aren't too tight but also breath?
Thanks,
Angela

I would agree with Sunrise re the sheep fleece. My daughter bought me a pair of slippers from **

They are slip-on's but they also have bootees. They keep my feet warm, are really comfy and I don't have to wear socks with them I would definitely recommend them

I have sheepskin house shoes with a sturdy Latex sole. Mine are some years old, and are warm and give good support. The label says New Zealand Natural Classics Limited. I really enjoy them and miss wearing them when it is too warm for them.
