Default Liability at Work

I spoke to my boss for the first time about my Chronic Fatigue. He was supportive but I started to wonder if he thinks that I am a liability at work. I have fallen several times in the last three months (not at work yet!) and had to take time off. I'm afraid he thinks I will fall at work and cause a workmen's comp claim. Should I be thinking about going on disability? I am currently able to do my job but it is getting more difficult by the day.

Have you spoken with your dr about the falls?

Why or what is causing the falling? Do you or dr have any ideas about it?
Is it leg weakness -do they just give out, dizzy spells, tripping?

It's possible it could be a new/additional condition causing the falls.

Are you thinking short term/temporary disability or long term - SSDI?

Disability depends on so many things and more or less proving that you are not able to do a/any job.
You might read up on our SSI/SSDI forum for info before deciding.

Default Liability at Work

I have spoke to the dr (many actually). No diagnosis yet but CFS is on the table now with many other things ruled out.

My balance has been bad for about 2 years. That combined with the fatigue/weakness just causes me to tumble for no real reason.

I have decent disability coverage through work so I would start with STD. I am convinced that the stress at work makes me worse. Right now work is all I can do because of the fatigue. I've gained a lot of weight. Tried dieting but just can't stay with it. Starting to feel like staying home and really taking care of my body needs to be a priority.

Hey,

Hope you're still hanging around the fourms.

There's lots here to read about. So many people in search of answers.

It's hard to get a handle on things when you're not able and don't understand why. You're not alone. All to often it is the case for many.

You do have to listen to your body. It's okay to go on disability if you can't work because of illness. You need to ask all the questions before you file, though.

I would mention to you, that a daily diary of sorts may come in handy. Onset on new symptoms, 0 - 10 pain scale, meds, activity level, ADLs, diet, changes that need to be noted, sleep habits, challenges, anything noteworthy.

Include things like names, addresses, telephone numbers, calls to whom and questions discussed, answer. Try to use it often, as it may become a resourceful instrument for the answers.

Take care...
