Default Fibro-Friendly Doc in NorCal?

Hi all:

I have a friend who was dx'd with fibro many years ago. Her doctor is retiring, and she's having issues finding another doctor who isn't dismissive of fibro and CFS as "women's stuff" that isn't medically proven.

She has good BC/BS coverage, but it would be great if someone could give a reference for a doc in Alameda or Contra Costa County.

TIA!

Hi sandi-k,
I can't offer any suggestions regarding specific doctors because I'm in another country but your friend or you could check to see if there are any Fibromyalgia CFS/ME in person meetup type support groups up and running again in the area. You could also try Chronic Pain.

There's also Vetted Products | The National Fibromyalgia Association
NFA Resource Centre - NFA national Fibromyalgia Association.
"Good Doctors List".

There may be some more links in the "Useful Sites" section at the top of all the messages here.

Maybe she could also contact her retiring doctor to see if he can recommend someone.

I'd need to look at a map to see how far up north of California those places are, but there would be groups in Oregon too I would imagine.

Hopefully someone from your area will have suggestions but it's pretty quiet here lately.
take care,
Lara
