Default Basal Joint Arthritis??`

Hi all! I have had FM for quite a while and my R thumb just aches alot, esp when I use it to lift thingsor or open bottles, etc. I'm constantly dropping things. It hurts to bend it.

Well, I had my Son at the Orthopaedic Spec for Shoulder problems, and nonchalantly asked the Dr. about my thumb. He said it sounded like Basal Jt Arthritis and that I should make an appt w/the Ortho hand spec. Geesh, they've got a foot ortho, a hand/wrist spec and my son is seeing a shoulder/neck spec. Whatever happened to Dr. Welby????

He gave me some info and it sounds exactly like that. Does anyone else have this type of problem? He said the hand spec may want to do surgery if it's bad enough, so I don't use complete use of my thumb.

Sorry I asked him!!
