((((Fibrowendy)))) Good to see you! Take gentle care of yourself.
Cymbalta has helped a lot with my fibro, but I still have the chronic myofascia goin on. I wondered if the Cymbalta was really helping so I tested it by going back down to 60 mg. from 90. Within a couple days I woke up one morning and thought, oh god. My hands ached, my feet hurt and were stiff. I just hurt in a lot of places that seemed VEWY FAMILIAR! And realized I hadn't had that usual morning stifness and pain in a long time! Went back up to 90 and it stopped. My doc said 'they' discovered that 90 mg was the magic number to help with the fibro, not 60 as had been suggested. Feel better soon dearheart.

I have been doing okay. I am trying to adjust to this new medication. My brand new psych nurse practitioner keeps upping my Lamictal so I have been dealing with that.
As for the Cymbalta, I was on 90 for a while but it didn't work for me at all. In fact, it made my depression worse and did nothing for my pain. This might have something to do with the Bipolar stuff. Good luck with it. |

i'm so glad to see lots of bipolar sort-of-bipolar people popping up here in the fibro forum. I just got diagnosed with fibro last year (actually I diagnosed myself with fibro about 10years ago, it just took that long for the doctors to catch up with me!). I've had treatment for depression for about 15 years, but I finally got around to accepting the bipolar label last year. It was a big year for lots of new labels
I wonder why there is such a strong link between the diagnoses ... is it just because most doctors are befuddled and not very careful with dxing fibro OR bipolar? |

From what have read Molly, because both dx's are associated with similar brain functions, they are related. So we see people who have FM also have depression, anxiety or BP issues.
Strange it took so long to put two and two together for docs on this issue. But only recently did docs realize that FM is a CNS issue and that the same functions in the brain are also similar to those other issues. AH the brain....what a pain in the backside!

I haven't been around here for awhile. I used to be at the other forum, and check in there onec in awhile, but don't see familiar names there.
I was dx with depression in 1977 after a lot of life things triggered it. I've had the fibro dx for about 6 years. I've also recently come to accept the bipolar 2 dx. It explains a lot in my life. I take Tegretal instead of Lamactil, plus an SSRI and other drugs. They make it possible for me to have a life. After all this time, it still amazes me how I can get severe elbow pain (that's where it's been lately) for a couple of weeks, to the point that I'm sure something else is really wrong...............and then it just disappears for awhile. It can make me crazy. Elbows, hips, lower back, and neck. We all deserve a big hug. |
