Quick question, is there anyone out there who experiences really bad muscle spasms. For the past 3 days I have been having really bad spasms on the left side of my back, my diaphram (spelling) and then it's hard to breath, as well as my lungs... Went to the Dr who chalked it up to my fibro..

I have experienced a lot of very bad muscle spasms. I currently have a muscle that has been in a spasm for months and is causing me a lot of pain and discomfort, but I can not get it to stop despite many efforts.

You mentioned that your doctor said the muscle spasms were a part of the fibro... but did the doctor offer any type of treatment for the spasms? Medications? Physical therapy? anything?

Muscle spasms are horrible and painful, so I hope you are able to find some relief soon.

anyway -do some more reading on the TOS forum and check the stickys on both of these forums.
Many Tos'sers get a nerve irritated or muscle spasms that affects our breathing and sometimes will even feel like a heart attack.

Thanks so much for the responses.

I checked out the links and read all the info there, printed out the FM and MPS Worksheet, which will be a big help when going to the Dr. I really hate keeping journals and this just looks like a much easier way of keeping track of things.

My Dr prescibed some medication in hopes that it will help. Flexeril (spelling??) I already take baclofen so I am really hoping it will help.

My lower back is in constant spasm but lately it has gotten worse. Could be the weather here, as I live very close to the bay and it has been damp.

My groin muscle also spasm, god that hurts so bad, and when my chest starts along with the lower back I sometimes wonder if I will be able to breath at all. I guess this is normal for us, as in not an unusual array of sx's.

I can't go for any type of massage because as soon as someone touched me I would jump right off the table (it just hurts to even be touched) not just the muscles, but my skin as well.

Anyway...thanks for listening to me whine today, it has been a hard couple of weeks, but I keep hanging in there.

I get weird blurry vision spells- more of those in 03-05 not many now
anything else? dizziness/ odd spacey feelings- foggy brain, memory, speaking prioblems??

my eye problems started a few years ago..03/04...It started with a slowing of pupil response in left eye when going from a lit room to a dark room causing momentary (well would last anywhere from 10 min to 1-2 hours) of partial to complete blindness in one eye..this slowing has since monved into my right eye.

I also have slight double vision and have small prisms in my eye glasses. The latest, which started last winter was a problem with my peripheral vision. Started in left eye, far bottom right corner and had now moved along the lower half outer rim of my left eye, along with pain behind the left eye..esp. with movement of the eye itself. Blurred vision on the lower part of my vision field.

I see a neuro in a couple weeks...

I do have foggy brain memory and sometimes forget things all together....or misshear things...little dizziness but not a lot. When I get really fatigued my speach will sometimes slur...

I can say with certainty that I have not been having strokes though. I have been checked for that.

Any ideas would be welcome.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia more than 9 years ago. Despite treatment, my symptoms never got better. I suffered from wierd vision problems, sore, weak muscles, and shortness of breath. Physical activity made my symptoms worse and I was in constant pain. I had muscle spasms in my legs, arms, even my face. All of these symptoms would come and go. Last month I was diagnosed with a disease called Myasthenia Gravis. It is a highly misdiagnosed autoimmune disease, and most doctors would never think to look for it. Look it up online and see if the symptoms fit. Ask the neuro to test you for this, and other autoimmune diseases. You don't have to suffer with misdiagnosis.
