Default Flexeril

I have bouts of pelvic pain and normally take valium for it. I don't like this med cause it makes me sleepy. I also have other aches and pains and one doc thinks it is fibro. I take Naproxen for this and it works fairly well...but not for the pelvic pain. Recently, got the Flexeril. 10 mgs. seem to make me alittle sleepy. What have your experiences been with this med? Dosages? Thank you.

I just read your post. I take flexeril for my fibro, but it is taken at nightime to help me sleep. I have read, (and my doctor has said), that one symptom of fibro is the inability to experience deep sleep. Are you taking it @ night or day? I take the same dosage as you, and it makes me drowsy. If you have to take it during the day, you may want to reduce it to 5. I hope you are feeling better soon. Take care of yourself!

I started taking Flexeril about three months ago for my lower back pain…preparing for my 5th back surgery…I was diagnosed with fibro 19 years ago and have tried a lot of stuff. I find the Flexeril helps a lot with the fibro pain as well. I’m taking a 5mg dose but I can take up to six a day if needed.

Taking one at bedtime help with the ability to not only help me to get to sleep but to stay asleep as well. As far as making me sleepy during the day well most of the time it doesn’t but I never know so I only take it during the day when I am in tons of pain or if I’m not expecting to drive.

Don’t know if I helped…you may want to go with a smaller dose and then you can double up if needed. I don’t know what the 10mg looks like…if it can be split easily…

I have started reading on all-natural herbs that may help with the pain and other things. For a deeper, more restful sleep, it recommends mixing lavendar and vanilla oils and placing then near you when you sleep. I put some on a small rag and drap it over my small fan. My husband and I both noticed that we don't feel as tired in the morning. Have been doing this for 3 days. I'll let you know if it is still working in about a week. Also, I take 15 mg roxicodone every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain. It doesn't make me croggy too bad. I've had no luck with flexeril.

My dentist once gave me some Methocarbamol?? For muscle spasms I was having in my jaw that was giving me headaches. I took them twice and both times ended up with an episode of Scintillating Scotomas. You know the eye thing with the electric arc. Never took them again after the second incident. I couldn't GET a doctor to give me Flexeril again so I have had to resort to a less physically demanding lifestyle and OTC back pain med MOMENTUM which I take with 2 Tylenol then lay down for an hour and it really helps. Plus I take extra Potassium a few times a week, That helps too.

I took Flexeril for a while at the suggestion of a specialist. I don't remember what the dosage was, though. It didn't do much for me except to make me drowsy and fill me with lassitude. Yet other people, like Miss Shelly there, say that it really helps them. I would suggest that maybe you try it for a while to see how it works in the long run, and then decide if it's helping or not. Good luck!

Lightbulb I like Flexeril too...

of all the muscle relaxants I've had over the years, it is the
most useful for me.

However, I do not metabolize it well. One tablet lasts me TWO days! So I have to be careful what I have planned on day 2.

If I have a bad night, that is when I take it. The next day will be a hangover for sure.

I have found it to be helpful for muscle pain and I am happy about this.
Also, helpful for sleep...so it MUST be taken at night.
AND it can make me a tad sleepy in the morning so I have to be careful about dosage and taking it multiple days.
Helpful...but I see it requires a little thought. I'm glad I double checked.
Thank you.
