My Dr. treats both RSD and fibromyalgia and he thinks they are two disorders. Primary fibro where the source for the problem can not be found and secondary fibro that occurs with RSD and other disorders. It is more common for some with other disorders to develope fibro, less common for those with fibro to develope RSD or some other disorder. Weather change is a major factory in RSD, but not a hallmark of fibro. Fibro patients are less likely to have an event that they can relate their first symptoms to. They can and often do overlap in symptoms. Nerve pain in seen more in RSD with bone loss more common. I wish for both of these disorders to disappear so we do not have to deal with pain and everything else that comes with having RSD and fibro. I guess I am blessed because I ONLY have to deal with RSD. CARose

I read that article and went to the RSD org web site. I don't recall having any of the symptoms of RSD at all, but I definitely fit the fibro bill!

Default Docs disagree on diagnosis - RSD vs. fibro?

I supposedly have both RSD and Fibro. Started with the fibro many years ago - just aching pain in face, head, TMJ, ears induced by trauma. Fibro only spread as induced by additonal trauma in feet, arms, etc.
Now I have burning pain as of a few months ago in back, stomach, legs, etc. The aching pain has changed to burning pain.
I am also diagnosed have onlyhaaving RSD by a leading RSD Dr.
I am confused and in so much pain. NO meds work for any pain.
Any ideas?
