This is strange. My doc just told me last week to start taking vitamin D. He said it should give me more energy since I hardly spend any time in the sun. I am a shift worker and work 12 hrs, day and night. I sometimes get to see the sun going to or from work. Guess I need to try it.

I thought taking vitamin B I was going to feel with more energy and wanting to do more things BUT, instead, I feel moore relaxed, I sleep better but, that helps me having more energy to do things ! Hope my message makes sense... You know, is like when somebody doesnt sleep... sometimes it doesnt mean (s)he is full of energy, it can mean that person is so stressed or anxious that even feeling tired, (s)he cant sleep... Good luck with vit D. Today was my 3 day of it and, Im loving it |

Glad to hear that. I am getting off of a long work schedule ending with a 12 hr day shift. I am aching all over, want to go home and climb into bed. My husband has made plans for going out to dinner, so it will be a while before I sleep, but I don't want to disappoint him. He has been a blessing to me since I have been diagnosed. I think we'll stop by the drug store and get some vitamin D and add it to the many other medications I am taking.

Hi all! I just saw this thread and wanted to chime in. I went to the Osteoporosis/Bone disease clinic at the Univ of Iowa in March and they did many tests on me including a Vit D study. It turned out that I was extremely low on my Vit D, even though I took it as a supplement and received some from my multi vit.
The bone spec told me that many women are vit D low and it can cause all kinds of sx's from bone/muscle pain to a gamut of other sx's. She put me on Ergocalciterol, which is a prescription RX. It's a tiny green gel pill w/50,000 iu's of D and I take one pill ONCE a wk for 12 wks, then one pill every other wk. I will see her then and have the study redone. I couldn't believe my levels were that low. She said it is not uncommon for women to have low D, esp coming off the winter that we just had. Just thought it was very interesting and she really took her time explaining things to me. She also kept me on my Boniva IV inj's every 3 months. Now, if Spring would just be more consistent, I'd be able to get out more and get some natural D.

I've been taking the vit D for about a week now. Haven't noticed any change yet. Maybe the other pills I'm taking are cancelling it out. Something needs to happen soon, I am currently taking 15 to 18 pills a day. It ridiculous.
