Is it possible to have Fibromyalgia without the tender points?
Is the pain always like a dull heavy ache? My pain feels more arthritic. If you lean on your elbows on a table, will your elbows burn if you have FMS? |

I seem to have more Fibromyalgia like symptoms immediately before and during my period including joint and muscle pain (especially in the hips and lower back), but only pre-period and during my period. But I don't have the FM tender points. What kind of doctor treats and diagnoses FM and CFS? Neurologist, Rheumatologist? Also, I have PN. Is it common to have two or more diseases or disorders coexist? I also feel like I'm battling depression. I guess this goes with the territory as well........ I've ranted long enough. I'm beyond exhausted.... |

The two CFS and Fibro are very connected. And so are a lot of the other things with pain. I would talk to your family doctor about this. The main way to get diagnosed with this disorder either one. IS to rule out other things. Donna |

The tender points don't have to be the the areas that ache. Traditionally, the dx of fibro can be made if at least 11 of the 18 spots are tender.....meaning if a massage therapist rubbed on them she would feel a 'knot' or trigger point there and you would feel tenderness.

I have had FMS for at least 17 years. In the beginning, I did not have the tender points; they appeared after seven or so years. Now I always have all (17?) points positive when I see my Rheumy. FMS is a weird disease and tender points are not always present. Everyone is different. |

My FMS preceded Spondylarthropathy and connective tissue disease. FMS pairs with autoimmune conditions fairly often.
