Just a quick update.

I wanted to let you know that my sprouts are about 3/4 inch long and looking very healthy. Hubby wants them about 2 inches long for his stir fries.

Thank you all for your help. :grouphug:

I forgot to come back and tell you all that I harvested (and ate) my first crop of bean sprouts and they were just perfect! I now have two more lots in the go. :D

I used the El-Cheapo glass jar method, so that made it very easy and I thank you Mel and everyone else, for your help!

Now.... my next exercise will be radish sprouts for my salads.

Do I use the same glass jar method, or do radish sprouts need different care?

Is this the one where I use a tray with cotton wool/cotton balls on the bottom?

Thank you in advance for any sprouting advice.

Boy do I love bean sprouts soaked in garlic and butter!

Thanks Twink. I've looked at lots of Mel's videos in the past, but they're hard to find when you don't have the links.

I'll keep looking. :)

Hi everybody. I BOUGHT A LITTLE CAMERA, and took photos of what I've been doing in my kitchen. I turned two bookshelves into two sprout racks and I've been BUSY, as you can see.

Oh, if you want to see my sprout videos, just go to youtube, and where it says SEARCH, just type in ELIZ7212 and all my videos will come up. So here we go!!!! On top of each picture is the desription. Tried to make the text bigger but you can see what I typed, right?

so let's hope my uploading skills have not been lost.

Here are some photos.

This is the first little mini-greenhouse that I built

Wow...that is really interesting!

How much do you pay for the seeds? Do you mind my asking?

Hi Mrs. D.

Not at all, Are you kidding, you can ask me anything you like. I get most of my seeds from handypantry.com. I get my broccoli seeds from sprouthouse.com because they are much less costly than anyone else. All websites sell organic sprouting seeds. The most popular website is sproutpeople.com. I go on a yahoo sproutpeople message board also.

When I buy my seeds from handypantry.com, I select the 5 lb option. It comes in a can. Costs about $26 and change for the 3 part salad mix that I get. That's broccoli, radish and alfalfa. All organic. I always pop ALL seeds in my freezer to kill any larvae that might be lurking. I have one in my freezer right now. I'll take a photo so you can see. This is so cool. I can actually show you my 5 lb can of seeds.

Some people buy 100 of pounds of seeds (they are survivalists, and they are BIG into storage.

We are all sprouters there and YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I'M LEARNING.

I'm glad I was able to share these photos with you guys on this forum.

I also have some photos from the Neuropathy support group that Alan and I went to on Thursday night. I'd like to share these but I don't know where I should post the photos. Can I post them here? There are only 2 photos. We have the meeting in the CBS building in NYC, and they did the movie on pain management. We didn't get a full crew but I wanted people who live in NYC and who have neuropathy, well, I wanted them to see what the room looked like just in case they ever get a notion to drop in.

So if I can't post the photos here, do you know where I might do this?

Be back in a jif and I'll post a pic of my 5 lb can of sprouting seeds.

Melody

Okay!! here are the photos of the seeds from Handy Pantry. I only have a webcam to do this. Not that good. Go to handypantry.com and the other sites and you'll see all the seeds and how they are packed. Interesting stuff. AND ORGANIC!!!

Here's a pic of the 5 lb can of 3 part salad mix

Here's a pic of the 2 1/2 lb package of the same mix. I initially used to purchase this amount but because I EAT SPROUTS, I figured 5 lb is the way to go. cost effective also.

You can post them in your profile album, if they are not too large.

That way everyone can see them.;)

Okay, just did it. These photos CAME OUT BIG. Bigger than the prints I got from CVS. lol

Now people can see what a PN Support Group meeting looks like.

Now how can I get the people who come to the Peripheral Neuropathy forum, well, how can I get them to view these photos? We would love for them to come to our meetings if they live nearby or can travel into NYC.

Thanks Mrs. D.

mrsD 11-21-2009 02:21 PM

Yes, just post to the PN forum.... a new thread if you want, or on the old one. Just say " I have pictures on my profile".

Nide posted some of his Irish vacation photos on his profile.
