Thumbs up Tagines

Anyone out there use a tagine?

I have one now and I have to say it's the most amazing method of cooking.

Is that the clay pot? I'd love to hear more about it. Linda

Hi Linda,
Yes, it is made of clay but glazed except for the base. Has a tall conical lid.

This is from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tajine

Mine was very inexpensive but works really well. Can use it in the oven or on the stove. There are some gorgeous ones that I've seen in stores that are decorated and very beautiful but also very expensive (esp. for a clay pot LOL).

I tried a few Moroccan recipes and a couple of them were nice. I tend to use it for all sorts of things now. Made curried sausages in it a couple of weeks ago. The lid seems to allow the food to cook very tenderly. Works like a slow-cooker really.

Although mine is very plain, it has that wonderful shape and looks great in the kitchen even when I'm not using it.

Lara, the picture shows that it is what I had thought. I've heard that it cooks beautifully, very tender and moist. They are expensive, though, but I hope to have one someday! I used to cook up a storm, but I've gotten away from it. I shouldn't, though, because it may be something that lets me forget about everything else. Thanks, Linda
