My son gave me a big whopping home-grown turkey thigh which I'd like to cook in the crock pot/slow cooker. I bought some potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, but I'm not really sure what to do with it. I don't use the slow cooker much. Any ideas?

We have a Nesco table top electric dutch oven.
I put the 2 turkey thighs on the grid (which raises it off the pan about an inch), with yams or potatoes or squash, or whatever you want, and some broth in the bottom below, + a little garlic. It sort of steams in there for about 1.5 hrs. I cut them up so everything is about the same thickness. The squash in half or the yams into thirds. They come out very tasty. In a slow cooker thighs are quite thick you might have to cut it up.

I ended up putting chunks of potato, carrot, onion and celery in the slow cooker, nestled the turkey thigh on top (it was a big turkey) and just put in a couple of cups of water with spices. Decided not to try any fancy tricks.
It just got done a few minutes ago, and it's in the fridge all ready for tomorrow. Um num num. I ended up making gravy with the "juice", so Bob's really happy. Slow cookers are for people who eat at night, not at noon, by the way. But it sure did smell good in here all day!
