Exclamation In a rut with my meal menus - ideas??

For some reason I am just cooking practically the same old stuff over and over. Feel like I'm in a menu rut .

I'm mainly looking for some new ideas for main dishes & if you can add a link to the recipe that would be great, or if a name or description I can search out the recipe link myself.

I need to get out of this rut some how.
If you have a favorite cook book that inspires you let me know about it too.

I think i will go get the Fanny Farmer cookbook from the library - if I recall it had some good down home recipes, I can always "lighten" them up if they are heavy with fats.
Some times it's easier to have the book handy nearby instead of printing out a recipe from the internet or running back and forth to the computer to read directions/ingredients.

I go through the same thing. Then I switch things around to spruce it up a bit. Sometimes its just a matter of using a different spice.

My newest one . . . Ground up fresh ginger root (1tsp), soy sauce (1 tbsp), mustard (1tbsp), lemon juice (1/2 tsp), and pepper (1/4 tsp or to taste). Put it on meat and place under the broiler. Cook for about 5 minutes or so and then flip and put more sauce on the other side and broil until done. This recipe is really easy to alter and the results come out just fine. DBF doesn't like soy sauce so I reduce the amount. We both like ginger so I put a little more in.

Also, DD21 (she just turned 21 today.) was telling me that she was having a hard time deciding what to cook for dinner. So, we found this site . . .http://www.makedinnereasy.com/ I don't know how good the recipes are but it at least can give you some ideas.

What are some basic foods that you like to eat? That is always a good starting point and you can just google something like, "baked chicken recipes" and you'll get all sorts of recipes with ratings as well. I do that a lot when I need to make some changes in our menu.

Oh yeah, I forgot. allrecipes.com has some menu planner thing. I don't know how it works or what it costs but I've seen it on there. They plan your menu and send you the recipes and shopping list. Allrecipes is a good site to get recipes and their ratings. Some people even tell you what to pair with that recipe. I have yet to find and try a recipe that we didn't like. Of course, I read the ratings 1st.
