Everywhere I go, many people are perplexed about protein.
I continue to hear/read conflicting reports, as well. Please feel free to add to this thread by sharing information on protein. The NeuroTalk NewsBot had caught my attention with this headline, "The Best Protein You Can Eat," the link: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/...ef=mostpopular Enjoy! DejaVu |

Eating protein while taking acid reducing drugs, is not going to give much help to your body and may make you sick besides.
Protein needs acid in the stomach to break up into smaller bits for the enzymes in the intestines to further digest. Without acid, this undigested protein, moves down to the bacteria in the colon, and it ferments there making gas, bloating, diarrhea and GERD. Both H2 antagonists like Zantac, and proton pump inhibitor types (Prilosec and Nexium etc) do this. Whey protein powder, used to make smoothies and shakes is predigested and better for patients on acid blocking drugs.

Food in general -
I think there is something to the Blood type diet system.. Many of the foods listed as problematic for my type , do bother me when I eat them, once in while is OK , but if often, I just feel bloated and a bit off, when compared to the best foods listed for my type.. It is quite interesting to read and then see if the good/bad foods do apply for your blood type or not.. http://www.dadamo.com/ *many of his books in libraries & thrift stores if you prefer paper version*

I have followed the blood type system probably starting 15 yrs ago. I think there is something to it. I eat meat, but not heavy portions. Lamb is my favorite and it's in my blood type which is B. Love my lamb patties on a nice bed of romaine lettuce salad.
Thinking more and more on the Gluten issue and especially the arthritis connection. Hearing this morning on the gluten epidemic issue in Italy and more and more gluten free foods coming on the scene. I was born and raised with italian foods and live in a body of OA....connection? |
