Default Let's talk about choccy!

As the first contributor to the Brand Spankin New "Food Court" forum, I wish to discuss a subject near and dear to my, ummm, tongue:

CHOCOLATE

At Christmas my DH gets me a box of Mrs. See's nuts and chews. Sometimes 2 boxes. And they disappear in short order. BTW, DH doesn't like nuts and chews, so it's up to me to eat them to ensure he doesn't get his feelings hurt. (That's my story -- stickin to it, Lol!)

The rest of the year I'm easy to please -- I don't require Godiva or expensive chocolates. Hershey's suits me just fine. *insert rueful smiley here*

Hot fudge sundaes are wonderful, but I do try to avoid them. And brownies with nuts. In an effort to minimize my weight gain, my strategy is to eat only small servings. Like chocolate chips, or peanut M&Ms. Or Hershey Kisses. Or those new Doves with the nuts. That way the calories don't count. *insert queen of denial smiley here*

Anyone else like choccy?

well duh?

here is a tip when melting chocolate chips to use as decoration. (like to drizzle over brownies or cookies)

when you melt them, use a double boiler and add a little vegtable oil. a teaspoon or less. it keeps the choccy from seizing up. helps thin it out.

Once a year we get chocolate from our favorite chocolate shop, Andy's Candies. We freeze our little bunnies (poor things it's awfully cold in the freezer). Then after while DH melts them down and adds pecans. We put them on a baking sheet in the fridge downstairs. In order to get some, I have to actually go down the stairs thereby burning all calories in the chocolate piece I just took off the tray. Voila calorie free chocolate!

Once my daughter got me a box of Godiva chocolates as a treat. I hid them on Bob and gave him a couple, one at a time. This is a man who eats Jelly Bellies by the handful, so I knew he wouldn't be able to savor Godiva properly.

My very favorite would be Lindt dark truffles. My everyday favorite (and I do mean every day) would be the Dove dark promises. Next would be the Herhsey's dark Bliss, and then Russell Stover darks.

I do eat milk chocolate, but I always go for the dark if there's a choice.

One thing non-choccies don't get is that when you need chocolate, you need CHOCOLATE, not chocolate-flavored something. Not chocolate pudding or chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream. We're talking intravenous Hershey's syrup if necessary.
