I've been sitting here slowly coming up with what types of cookies I'm going to bake for Christmas. I was wondering if we could share some of our old time favorites.
There's always room for more cookies, LOL. My hubby LOVES German Chocolate cake, so he really likes this cookie. 1 pkg german chocolate cake mix 1 pkg chocolate chips 1/2 Cup rolled oats 1/2 Cup raisens 1/2 Cup oil 2 eggs, slightly beaten Mix all ingredients until well blended. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls spaced 2 in. apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. Cool for 1 minute then remove from sheet.

Hiya Fin.......I make alot(at least 20 except last year I think it was 18)kinds
of cookies every year. If you are interested in a certain type ie: choc, shortbread, bars etc. let me know , I have some great standbys. My fave is a cookie that you make a shortbread log put divits in and fill with seedless rasp jam......then drizzle with a little icing. yummmmmmm then you cut them in diagonall slices I just loooove baking. I intend to start this weekend as there is not as much time after thanksgiving as there usually is. I guess I gotta empty out my basement freezer.

I love baking too. I'm going to try the german chocolate cookie tonight for my neighbors. Since I can't eat sweets I use my neighbors as guinea pigs - they don't mind at all.
If you like the salty and sweet mix, the number one request I get is for an oatmeal cookie that has salt sprinkled on the outside. yum. The other popular cookie I make is a sugar cut out cookie with cream cheese in it - it's almost like a cake. Soxmom, that shortbread sounds interesting, do you mind sharing the recipe?

some choc chips in a 4 cup glass measuring cup and then I add 1 tsp shortning(smooths it out), melt in micro or double boiler(you can use the choc melts you get at craft store and you dont have to add shortning.). When melted, I dip pretzels in choc and put on wax paper to dry..at that point I put sprinkles on if I want to. If Im dipping pretzel twists, I use a chop stick to dip. just hang it on and you are all set...just dont forget to tap the excess choc off before you put it on the wax paper...........Its fun!!

Hi Bets, there are many recipes out there like this but most have an egg in them. thats what I think makes this cookie unique I dont have a recipe this is in my head so bear with me. 1/2 cup butter, softened 1/4 cup gran. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla dash of salt 1 and 1/4 c. white flour 1/3 c. seedless rasp jam Heat oven to 350 degrees. mix butter and sugar then add flour , salt, and vanilla. This dough is difficult to combine so just work it till it pretty much comes together. divide into thirds. Take a third of dough and rolls into a 9 inch rope.(remember sometimes the ropes start to fall apart just keep putting them back together) put the rope on an ungreased cookie sheet. repeat with remaining to thirds of dough. then take your thumb and make divets every inch or so on the ropes . fill these with rasp. jam. bake for 12 to 15 min. just until they are set and barely beginning to light ly brown on bottoms. When cool drizzle with a little 10x sugar icing. l cup sugar and a little water or milk to make a drizzling consistency. when icing is set cut into diagonal cookie. about and inch. yummy......I make lots of cookies but these remain my fave. good luck
