Lightbulb DELICIOUS Almonds!

We went to Sams Club yesterday, and I found the most fantastic almonds ever!

I can't have salt, or sugar... anymore.

These are by Emerald (distributed by Diamond) and are dry roasted, cocoa covered with sucrolose and acesulfame as light sweeteners.

I use almonds as a snack. I try to do them for my daily magnesium.

These are just "right". Not too much chocolate (very light), no sugar no salt (25mg sodium/serving), not too hard to chew, and all around really nice! I confess I am not a big chocolate consumer (unlike my chocoholic husband), so this dark cocoa is perfect for me. Cocoa is high in antioxidants too.
There used to be cocoa almonds in high end candy stores, and those were messy to eat. These have a think coating on them so nothing transfers to your hands. A welcome feature for me.

Even better was the PRICE--- 9.63 for a humongous jar 38oz !
I'm going back to buy several more before they are gone.
(compare to Amazon 44oz for 24.92.) The expiration date on my jar is Nov 2010. I save these tough jars too, for my crystals and stones/rocks for my artwork. For those of you who love to save stuff like this, you will LOVE just the jar! LOLOLOL

If you go to Amazon and look them up, you'll find 96 ~~ 5 star reviews! Those who didn't give it 5 stars were disappointed that there wasn't MORE chocolate. But for me, this is the best part of the nut. I just don't do sweets much anymore, and this does not break the sweet ban in any way for me.

Lightbulb we just learned yesterday...

That not all Sam's Clubs have these.

My husband was out on the other side of town for work, and
stopped there to pick up some Lipton green tea for me (which the store on Sunday did NOT have)...and they didn't have the almonds there! The manager there said not all stores carry everything and to check the website. <shrugs>

So he is going to go back to Sunday's location today for me on the way home from work and pick more jars of the almonds for me that way.

I also have that "thing" for chocolate and its hard to figure out a healthy way around it. This is an awesome idea!
I'm a little concerned about calories though. Will have to watch my portions.

Yes of course... calories are always an issue.

But I prefer these to carb type snacks.
Sometimes I just have these instead of lunch. (if I eat more of them than the 150 cal/serving). I've had my big jug container for over a month now, and it says 38 servings are in it. So that is working out well for the month. They are very satisfying too.

Nuts do not set off your insulin spikes either. And at my age this is a consideration, moreso than for you.

Thanks mrsD! I'm going to have to check those out. I think the almonds would be a good snack for me. Almonds + dark chocolate = yummy!

I love almonds, and other nuts, and they are so good for you! I like to mix together egg white, white and/or brown sugar--not a lot, and mix in the nuts. Then I toast them on the stove. They're fabulous, on their own or mixed with baked goods.

The egg white trick will make anything stick to the nuts, so it may work for coco too. I'm definitely going to try it! I've made nuts flavord with curry and other spices for salads too.
