26 days ago, an IV was placed in my right hand on top of my wrist by my thumb side; the Nurse tried to find a good vein in my arm, but could not find one; she said I have small veins. When she inserted the needle excruciating pain, like electric shock feeling shot though my hand; she pulled back the needle and the pain stopped.

The right side of my thumb is continually numb, throbbing and slightly swollen; when I reach out to pick-up something I have very sharp stinging pain shooting down the side of my thumb.

I had EMG test and muscle test all came back normal. INTERESTING NOTE: after the EMG test, my thumb was still numb but the pain in my thumb was greatly reduced; I was so happy, I though the shocking from the test fixed the pain in my thumb, sadly the pain came back hours later.

My question is does anybody have any recordation on other tests to determine the cause of this problem; truly any information or comments would be very helpful. Also; I hope I’m not offending anybody, but I’m concerned that I will not be able to find a doctor that will put my best interest first; this happened when I was having out-patents surgery at a very large Hospital in the area, almost all the doctors in this area work out of this hospital.
